Austin Jacques Named CIAA Linebacker of the Week For the Second Consecutive Week

Charlotte, N.C. (Oct. 5, 2015) –Johnson C. Smith senior linebacker Austin Jacques (Springdale, Md.) earned CIAA Linebacker of the Week honors as announced by the league on Monday afternoon for his performance against Bowie State.  This is second consecutive week that he has earned the honor.Jacques had 17 total tackles on the afternoon in poor playing conditions, including 11 solo stops.  He also registered 2.0 tackles for loss for 13 yards.  He also had one pass breakup that was nearly an interception.  Jacques is currently the top JCSU tackler with 52 stops on the season, 8.5 for loss.

JCSU will look to rebound after the disappointing loss this upcoming weekend, travelling to CIAA Southern Division rival Winston-Salem State.  Kickoff against the Rams is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. at Bowman Gray Stadium.
