Charlotte, N.C. (Oct. 2, 2015) – The Johnson C. Smith Department of Athletics will debut its new scoreboard on Saturday, Oct. 3 during the football game with Bowie State. The scoreboard, a product of Formetco Sports, features a 24-by-48 foot high-definition video screen that has full video capability. In addition to the video capabilities, the total LED screen has the power to deliver over one million colors to the viewing audience. In addition to the football scoring capabilities, it is fully compatible with track and field timing software and will be a great addition to the JCSU Track and Field Invitational as well as the JCSU Commencement Ceremony in the spring. It replaces the original Daktronics scoreboard that was installed when the Irwin Belk Complex was completed in the early 2000s.
JCSU Athletics Director Stephen Joyner, Sr. is looking forward to the enhancement that the scoreboard will bring to JCSU athletic events that are held inside the Irwin Belk Complex. “The new video board will bring an improved game environment and it will quickly pay dividends, as we work toward building our athletic program to the top of the CIAA,” says Joyner.
