In the men’s 8K race, JCSU was paced by Waynee Hyman (Warwick, N.Y.), as he finished the course in 35:22.4. Marvin Woodward (Bloomfield, Conn.) was the second JCSU finisher with a time of 38:54.1.

Sickle Cell disease is usually found in people of African American and Hispanic descent and causes a wide range of acute and chronic health issues. On September 12, Piedmont Health Services and Sickle Cell Agency (PHSSCA) held its second annual 3K Sickle Cell Run/Walk.

The Golden Bulls were led by freshman Anteesha Smoots (San Antonio, Tex.), as she tallied six kills in the outing. Senior Saleese Stovall (Roanoke, Va.) and junior Jana Ajdukovic (Zagreb, Croatia) each had five kills for JCSU while Khadijah Segura (Minneapolis, Minn.) dished out 18 assists.

On the first JCSU drive, the offense struggled to get going, as Kentucky State recorded a sack on first down and two plays later, Herbin’s pass was picked off by KSU’s Nathan Robinson. On the first Thorobred drive, KSU also fell victim to the interception, as JCSU’s Dave Mann (Atlanta, Ga.) stepped in front of an Ora Johnson pass, giving JCSU the ball at their own 40 yard line.

JCSU QB Jordan Lane Named CIAA Rookie of the Week

Lane, completed 14 of 19 pass attempts for 192 yards in his collegiate debut against Wingate on Saturday night without throwing an interception. He tossed a game high 43 yard pass to teammate Fred Scott (Stone Mountain, Ga.) while finishing with a 121.37 efficiency rating.

JCSU to Host Wingate in 2015 Season Opener

JCSU Football to Host Wingate in Season Opener: Charlotte, N.C. (Sept. 1, 2015) – The Johnson C. Smith University football team will usher in the Kermit Blount era when they open the 2015 season on Saturday, Sept. 5 at 6:00 p.m. against local rival Wingate at the Irwin Belk Complex. The game marks the first home night game for JCSU in recent memory.

JCSU Men’s Basketball To Hold Open Tryouts

The Johnson C. Smith Golden Bulls men’s basketball team announces open tryouts for any full-time students interested in becoming a part of the Golden Bulls men’s basketball program. Tryouts will take place on Sunday, September 20, 2015 at 3:30 p.m. in Brayboy Gymnasium. Tryouts are open to any full-time JCSU student in good academic standing with the University.

Golden Bull Football Practice Report #1, 8/13/15

Following a brief hydration break, the team took part in the "county fair" segment of practice, where players rotated through several agility stations. Following another hydration break, they were brought together for several team style drills before ending the first day.

The Golden Bulls will hit the field on Friday afternoon, Aug. 14 for day two of helmet only drills.
