BOXTOROW Names Austin Jacques to Preseason All-America Team
Charlotte, N.C. (Aug. 10, 2015) –Johnson C. Smith senior linebacker Austin Jacques added another preseason designation ahead of the 2015 season when he was named to the BOXTOROW Preseason All-America team on Monday.
JCSU Football Tickets Now On Sale
Charlotte, N.C. (Aug. 10, 2015) –Season and individual tickets for the 2015 Johnson C. Smith University home football games are now on sale.
Fans can purchase tickets online to all four of the Golden Bulls home games by clicking here.
On game days, tickets can also be purchased two hours prior to kickoff at the ticket booth at the Irwin Belk Complex.

JCSU’s Tory Woodbury Awarded NFL’s Nunn-Wooten Scouting Fellowship
Charlotte, N.C. (Aug. 5, 2015) – Johnson C. Smith University offensive coordinator Tory Woodbury was awarded the NFL’s Nunn-Wooten Scouting Fellowship and is taking part in the St. Louis Rams training camp by serving in the Professional Scout division during the Rams training camp at Rams Park in Earth City, Missouri.
JCSU’s Mark Sherrill to Attend USMC Recruiting Command Coaches Workshop
Charlotte, N.C. (July 31, 2015) – Johnson C. Smith assistant men’s basketball coach Mark Sherrill has been invited to attend the United States Marine Corps Recruiting Command Coaches Workshop on August 5-8 in Quantico, Va.
Throughout the week, participants will interact with officer instructors and key leaders and also see firsthand, the process of training and commissioning Marine Officers.
Kendra Clarke Wins 400m at Pan American Junior Championships
Charlotte, N.C. (Aug. 3, 2015) – Johnson C. Smith track and field athlete Kendra Clarke won the 400m title at the Pan Am Junior Championships at Foote Field in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
Clarke, running in her hometown, took the crown by withstanding strong challenges from Sada Williams (Barbados) and Kendall Ellis (USA) in the finals. Williams and Ellis are ranked No. 8 and No. 7 respectively worldwide in the junior division. Clarke’s time of 52.55 is a new personal best.
Former JCSU Receiver Avius Capers Signed by the Carolina Panthers
Charlotte, N.C. (July 31, 2015) –Former Johnson C. Smith University wide receiver Avius Capers has been signed by the Carolina Panthers, the team has announced.
Capers, a Charlotte native and Independence High School product, joins his hometown team as they begin mini camp on the campus of Wofford College in Spartanburg, S.C. on Friday, July 31. This past spring, Capers was invited to the Panthers rookie mini camp but was unsigned after the tryout sessions.
JCSU Track & Field Teams Earn USTFCCCA Academic Honors
Scholar Team of the Year and individual All-Academic honors for the 2014-15 NCAA Division II Track & Field season were announced Friday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Both JCSU teams were named Scholar teams, with the JCSU women earning the designation by finishing with a 3.59 team GPA, which was the second-highest in all of Division II. The JCSU men’s team completed the season with a cumulative 3.32 GPA, which was fifth-highest among all NCAA Division II teams.
